Many gardeners and home fruit growers would love to grow more than one type of citrus. However, the reality of limited space can often make growing multiple citrus trees impossible. Now our Meyer Lemon / Persian Lime Cocktail Tree solves the problem by letting you grow two different citrus fruits in the same pot.

This Lemon-Lime Citrus Cocktail Tree is the result of planting both of these in the same pot. The result is two fruit trees in the space of one. Having these two varieties of citrus lets you grow one pot on your patio and harvest both Meyer Lemons and Persian Limes to use in recipes, beverages, sauces, and marinades. The Lemon-Lime Cocktail Tree is cold hardy, pest and disease resistant, and easy to grow.

You can expect a newly planted Cocktail Tree to bloom and start producing fruit in about one year once planted in the ground. This variety is grafted to dwarf rootstock so it will rarely grow above 5  feet tall in a pot and a little larger in ground. The Lemon Lime Cocktail Tree can be pruned to a desired size and shape, grown indoors in a container, or in the ground outdoors in USDA Zones 9 to 11.

Growing citrus trees comes with many benefits. Citrus trees are easy to grow, produce a pleasant, fresh fragrance, and the fruit can be used for cooking, mixing drinks, baking and even cleaning. All of these benefits can be said for the Key Lime tree.

The Key Lime Tree is native to the small islands on the southern tip of eastern Florida. Key Lime trees are relatively small and seldom reach 12 ft in height. This hardy citrus tree is naturally resistant to pests and diseases and can adapt to many types of soil. It is bushy and has spindling branches that has short to medium length thorns. Key Lime Trees produce small white flowers that emit a spectacular aromatic scent that can last a whole season through.

Another notable aspect of this type of lime trees is that they are self-pollinating; meaning you only need one tree for it to bear fruits. All you have to do is take one flower from your tree and swab it over the other blooms and pollination process is already underway.

Key Lime tree – including the dwarf key lime tree – produces small, just about 1 ½ to 2 inches in diameter, and round to oblong fruit that has an invigorating blend of acidity and sweetness that is unique and unlike any other lime in the world. The rind of Key Lime is thin and smooth, and the color is deep green when unripe that turns to pale green when ready to be harvested. It also has 10 to 15 seeds that are polyembryonic.

Ein Shemer Apple Trees reach mature heights of between 15 and 25 feet, and widths of up to 20 feet. Plant them with at least 12 feet of space on all sides, in a spot that gets at least 6 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. Ein Shemer Apple Trees will still grow and produce blooms and fruit if they receive some periods of light shade in the morning or afternoon, but the more sun the better. They are somewhat tolerant of drought, but much prefer periodic slow deep watering.

Prune Ein Shemer Apple Trees in winter after leaves have fallen, but before new spring growth appears. In some warmer areas such as California, Texas, and Florida Ein Shemer Apple Trees can bloom as early as January. Once the tree blooms, pruning is not recommended until the following dormant period in winter. Cut branches to shape the tree into a funnels shape. Cut away dead wood and remove any low suckers or abnormally vigorous vertical growth.

The Ruby Red Grapefruit tree with botanical name Citrus Paradise, is from an evergreen citrus tree from the Citrus genus in the family Rutaceae. Although its origin is a little bit obscure, the variety may have been a horticultural accident or meticulous hybridization. Research shows that this Grapefruit is a hybrid of pummelo (Citrus grandis) and the sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) and was named thus due to the grape-like clusters in which fruit grows on trees.

This Grapefruit tree first arrived in the state of Florida in 1823 but did not gain popularity due to its acidity and difficulty to peel. Some planted the citrus tree and sold or gave away the produce as a novelty fruit. It was only in 1929 when the most celebrated mutation in the history of citrus fruit was discovered in an orchard in Texas that the fruit gained its popularity. Growing on a pink grapefruit tree was a mutated red grapefruit, which became the Ruby Red Grapefruit tree variety  the first of its kind to get U.S. patent.

The Ruby Red Grapefruit Tree is usually grown to 16-20 ft tall to ensure large fruit size and easy fruit picking, although when left alone it can grow as high as 40-50ft. This citrus tree has shiny, green foliage that covers the tree from top to bottom and produces fragrant, white four-petal flowers.

The Ruby Red Grapefruits are round, baseball sized fruit with a pale lemon color tinged with pink blush. The flesh of the fruit is sweet, juicy and brightly red. Ruby Red Grapefruit is a rich source of vitamin C and vitamin A, potassium, fiber, beta-carotene, lycopene that gives it its distinct red color and is a powerful antioxidant.

The Pink Variegated Lemon Tree, oftentimes called the variegated Eureka lemon tree or pink-fleshed Eureka lemon, is a cultivar of lemon botanically named Citrus limon “Eureka Variegated Pink”. It was first discovered in 1931 as a sport that grew on a regular Eureka Lemon tree at a home garden in Burbank, California.

This citrus tree is drought tolerant and suitable for outdoor planting in USDA plant hardiness zones 8 to 11. When planted in the ground it can grow 10 to 15 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide. If you live in an area where winter temperatures won’t allow you to grow the Eureka pink lemon tree in the ground, you can always get a dwarf Pink Variegated Lemon Tree and grow it in a container indoors. Position the tree near a sunny, south-facing window to supplement it with its much-needed sunlight during winter. When all danger of frost has passed you can move the potted lemon tree to your deck or patio where it can stay until next winter.

Pink Variegated lemon trees make fine ornamental trees because of their glossy, evergreen, green and cream-colored foliage and fragrant white blooms that are in season in spring or fall. They bear low-seeded pink-fleshed lemon fruits that have green-stripped rind while still immature. As the fruits ripen, they lose their stripes and the rinds turn yellow with pink oil glands.

What makes this tree even more likable is its adaptability to different soil types and growing conditions. It is also resistant to pests or diseases.
