The 20th Century Asian Pear (also known as the Shinseiki Asian Pear) is a productive grower that produces sweet, round, yellow pears with off-white, juicy, crisp flesh. 20th Century Asian Pear Trees bloom white flowers in early spring, and their fruit is ripe in late August. They do best in full sun and loamy well-drained soil. They are resistant to extremes of heat and cold, and will grow to about 10 feet tall and 7 feet wide.

20th Century Asian Pear Trees can be grown in the ground in USDA Zones 4 to 9. These trees need between 8 and 12 feet of space on all sides to accommodate growth. It is also good to place 20th Century Asian Pear Trees where they will have some air flow. Air flow helps to reduce fungus which can have a negative effect on new growth and blooms. A planting location with room for growth in an open, sunny spot is better than a crowded corner surrounded by walls, dense brush, or buildings.

Bartlett Pear, also known as Williams Pear, is a versatile, hearty pear tree that grows a smooth skinned, yellow fruit that is firm, juicy, and has flavors of honey and slight spice. The Bartlett Pear Tree grows quickly and a well cared for tree in the proper location can begin to produce fruit as soon as 4 to 6 years. Bartlett Pear Trees have white blooms in spring, and the large fruit is ripe in late August.

Bartlett Pear Trees can be successfully grown in the ground in USDA Zones 5 to 8. They like moist but well drained soil, 800 chill hours, and full sun to achieve the best results. Bartlett Pear Trees also require a pollinator, so a companion pear tree should be planted within 50 feet as well. Bartlett Pear Trees reach 18 to 20 feet tall and spread to about 13 feet wide.

The Orient Pear Tree produces juicy, sweet, creamy-fleshed, round, yellow pears that are great for cooking, canning, baking, eating fresh, or for use in desserts and drinks. The trees grow to a size of 20 feet high and 15 to 20 feet wide. Orient Pear Trees are fast growing, and a healthy tree with ample sun and nutrition can easily grow up to 2 feet of height per year. They do best in full sun where the tree can get 6 hours or more of direct light per day.

Orient Pear Trees are suited to grow in the ground within USDA Zones 5 to 8. They prefer slightly acidic, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. The Orient Pear Tree is sensitive to salt or salt-air, and as such is not the first choice for growing in coastal areas. However the Orient Pear Tree is able to tolerate short periods of drought and even brief flooding. This is a heavy bearer that delivers ripe fruit in late summer and early fall.
